Stanford Remains A Perfect 7-0 After Dominating UCLA and USC This Weekend

Katie Ledecky and Stanford remain a perfect 7-0 on the season after defeating UCLA and USC on the road this weekend. Katie Ledecky won five of her six individual events.

Unfortunately no video was broadcast for the meets this weekend. If any footage of Katie’s races surface they will be posted here.

On Friday against UCLA, Katie swam different races than her usual freestyle events. She took first place in the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 1:58.37 and the 200 yard IM in a time of 1:57.94. She was the only swimmer to break 2 minutes in either race.

Katie also swam the 200 yard fly where she placed second in a time of 1:57.49 behind teammate Janet Hu (1:57.00).

Stanford beat UCLA 182 – 110.

On Saturday, Katie returned to her specialties in the 200, 500 and 1000 yard freestyle events in which she swept.

In the 1000 free, Katie won handedly in a time of 9:15.96, more than 30 seconds ahead of second place finisher Brooke Forde (9:46.23).

Immediately after winning the 1000 free she stood back on the blocks for the 200 free where she would win by nearly 3 seconds in a time of 1:43.24 ahead of USC’s Louise Hansson (1:46.21).

Later in the meet Katie swam her final individual event, the 500 yard free, where she dominated with a 4:36.61 victory.

The final event of the day was the 400 free relay where the Stanford ‘A’ team took first in a time of 3:15.71 with Katie swimming the the third leg.

Stanford beat USC 223 – 77.

Stanford’s next meet is two weeks from now for a season finale match-up at Home against California. The meet is on Saturday, February 10 at 12PM PT and a live webcast will be available HERE.
